A quick introduction to the Common Object Request Broker Architecture

This 1-day course gives students a rapid overview of CORBA, the architecture for building distributed computing applications. CORBA provides an elegant framework for networked applications, and is backed by the Object Management Group, a consortium of over 500 computer companies.

The course begins with a quick review of the origins of CORBA, and then proceeds to explore the elements of the architecture, including practical demonstrations of how to build applications in with CORBA. The course covers the key concepts of CORBA, including the server side and client side software components. It discusses the need and efficacy of the CORBA IDL (Interface Definition Language). The courses uses hands-on demonstrations to show how distributed applications can be built using CORBA.
