![]() The Object Technology Company Object-Oriented Design Patterns Design patterns are the hottest new development in the object-oriented design world; in fact the largest selling object-oriented text is "Design Patterns" by Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, and John Vlisssides (the famous "Gang of Four" book). The popular "Pantheon Workbook" for this course contains copies of the slides with annotations and extensive references to sources and material on this rapidly evolving field. The course begins with an overview of standard O-O concepts before moving to design patterns in depth. All the currently popular patterns covered by the "Gang of Four" book are reviewed. Finally, the course presents a detailed examination of a third of the patterns book. The course includes class exercises to provide students with a pragmatic view of how patterns are applied to enhance the possibilities of object-oriented analysis and modeling.
