This three-day course will teach you the fundamentals of the Perl 5 language. Beginning with an introduction to Perl history and uses, it continues by illustrating the language elements used to store data, process strings and lists, and work with files and system commands. The course makes heavy use of interactive, hands-on labs to reinforce the material. The course contains tips on Perl resources and programming style, and sets the stage for subsequent exploration of Perl specialty areas such as CGI/web development, systems administration and information processing and reporting.
