London/Munich, September 19th, 2011 – Pantheon, a leading global private equity fund-of-funds investor, today announced a global private equity programme established jointly with Bayerische Versorgungskammer (BVK), Germany’s largest pension fund.

Pantheon has worked with the alternatives team at BVK for the past four years, establishing a strong relationship and shared investment values.  Senior professionals at Pantheon are investing in this programme alongside BVK – as they do in all Pantheon fund-of-funds programmes – guaranteeing the important alignment of interest between manager and investor.
Commenting on the new programme, Chris Meads, Pantheon’s Global Head of Investment, says: “Pantheon’s and BVK’s shared approach to investment and risk management prompted early discussion on a global private equity programme to invest in established markets and tap opportunities in emerging markets, the criterion in both being the potential for outstanding investment performance. We are delighted that our shared vision has culminated in this new investment mandate and look forward to working closely with BVK on this project.” Daniel F. Just, Head of Investments at BVK, comments: “We are very pleased to be working more closely with Pantheon, with whom we have had a strong relationship for many years.  Their expertise and global reach makes them the ideal partner for this joint programme.”
Pantheon and BVK are signatories to the Principles for Responsible Investing (PRI) and Pantheon’s rigorous application of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) principles across its own investment and monitoring processes are important to BVK.
