London/Helsinki, November 6th, 2014 – Pantheon, a leading global private equity fund investor, today announced it has been awarded and has closed a customised private equity mandate covering the emerging markets established by Valtion Eläkerahasto (“VER”), the Finnish State Pension Fund.
The €100 million customised strategy, which will be managed by Pantheon, will be committed over the next three-to-four years to a diversified portfolio of primary private equity buyout and growth funds across Asia and the emerging markets.
Commenting on the new mandate, Brian Lim, Head of Pantheon’s Emerging Markets investment programme, says: “We are delighted that VER has chosen to work with Pantheon on its inaugural emerging markets private equity investment mandate. We will now focus on the potential for outstanding investment performance across Asia and emerging markets, and look forward to working with the VER team.”
Maarit Säynevirta, responsible for alternative investments at VER, comments: “We launched a broad global public tender for this mandate in 2013 and this is the first time we elected to choose a manager for a separate account. As a result of the public tender, Pantheon was selected to manage a customised emerging market private equity programme. We are very satisfied with the result because of Pantheon’s investment expertise and reach, long-standing presence in Asia and the emerging markets and its dedication to responsible investment.”
